Lisa & Terry

Agrarian roots firmly transplanted in urban soil.

It was so much fun helping Lisa and Terry plan their wedding celebration. Lisa had an easy-going style and a definite vision for their autumn country wedding. But, when one can’t go to the actual country, why not create sanctuary in the city? And that’s exactly what they did –just blocks from Capitol Hill.

The North Hall of Eastern Market, renovated in 2009, was the blank slate transformed into a fall festival, boasting sunflowers, roses, protea, solidago, Viking poms and pressed leaves on long farm tables set with red glassware and rattan chargers. And once the Sunday vendors packed up their wares, the bricked street front became the setting for their outdoor ceremony at dusk. After the groom kissed the bride, guests moved into the hall to feast on the delicious creations of chef Jennifer Tye and her DC Taste team–including a pastry station of sweet fruity pies for guests to sample while kicking up their heels after dinner.

Now that is a great way for a marriage to take root.
